Winter Vegetable Seeds

Spinach, Coriander and Methi suit containers and smaller beds. Broccoli, Cauliflower and Cabbage need more room as they mature, while Pea needs climbing support from an early stage.
Root vegetables should not all be treated as needing the same container:
- Carrot: use a container at least 12 inches deep for most varieties; choose a deeper pot for long-rooted carrots
- Round Radish: around 10 inches of soil depth is generally sufficient
- Beetroot: use a pot around 10 inches deep or more
- Turnip: allow roughly 10–12 inches, depending on the variety and harvest size
- Long winter Radish or Mooli: use a deeper container because the edible root can extend well beyond the depth needed by round radish
Use loose soil without stones or hard clods. A wide pot is not enough if the soil below the seedlings is shallow or compacted.

Bulbs for Winter and Spring Blooms
