In Lahore, Faisalabad, Islamabad and Rawalpindi, sow from September to November, or again from late January to February for later spring flowers. In hotter areas such as Karachi and southern Punjab, sow from October to December after the strongest summer heat has eased. In colder northern and hilly areas, sow from March to April after the risk of hard frost has passed.
How to Sow
Start Aster Giant Mix in a seedling tray or small pots before moving the young plants to their final location.
- Fill the tray or pots with fine, moist seed starter mix.
- Sow the seeds thinly over the surface.
- Cover them with around ⅛ inch of the mix.
- Keep the soil lightly moist in a bright location until seedlings appear.
- Transplant after 3–4 true leaves develop, leaving 10–12 inches between plants.
Plant Care
Water when the upper layer of soil begins to dry. Keep the soil evenly moist while the plants are growing and forming buds, but never leave the roots waterlogged. Water near the base early in the day so the foliage remains dry overnight.
Mix a small amount of Vermicompost into the final soil before transplanting. Once buds begin forming, apply Flower Fertilizer as directed. Avoid excessive nitrogen because it can produce soft growth and weak flower stems.
If aphids or leafhoppers appear, spray Neem Oil on the affected leaves and stems during the evening. Avoid spraying open flowers.

Why did a healthy Aster suddenly wilt?
Sudden wilting can be caused by Fusarium wilt, a soil-borne disease. Remove the affected plant, discard its soil and avoid planting Asters in the same mix the following season.
What causes yellow, twisted or unusually clustered growth?
This may be Aster yellows, a disease spread by leafhoppers. Affected plants cannot be cured and should be removed promptly to reduce the chance of it spreading.
