Hybrid Flowers

Hybrid flower seeds offer selected colours, patterns, flower forms and plant habits. The collection contains varieties for different seasons, so flower choice should begin with temperature rather than colour alone.

Sowing Time

Because this collection contains both summer and winter plants, there is no single planting month for every variety.

In Lahore, Faisalabad, Islamabad and Rawalpindi, start cool-season vegetables and mild-weather flowers from September through November. Tomato, Chilli, Capsicum, Brinjal, Lady Finger, Papaya and warm-season flowers can be started from January through March. Cucumbers, Beans, Gourds and Melons can be planted as the weather and soil become warmer.

Another warm-season sowing can begin during July and August as the most severe heat starts easing. Young plants may need protection from intense afternoon sunlight and heavy monsoon rain.

In Karachi, start cool-season vegetables and flowers from October through December. Warm-season vegetables, Papaya and heat-loving flowers can be started from August through October and again from January through February.

In southern Punjab, October and November suit winter vegetables and mild-weather flowers. Start warm-season varieties during January and February. Another planting opportunity may begin during July and August when seedlings can be protected from severe heat and standing rainwater.

In colder northern and hilly areas, cool-season varieties may be started from August through October or from March through April. Wait until nights become reliably mild before sowing frost-sensitive vegetables, fruits and flowers.

Starting Seeds

1. Fill a seedling tray or small pots with loose, clean seed-starting mix.
2. Sow fine flower seeds shallowly and cover larger seeds according to their size and product instructions.
3. Water gently and maintain light, even moisture during germination.
4. Provide bright light after emergence so the seedlings develop firm stems.
5. Move established seedlings into their final pots, grow bags or beds after several true leaves appear.

Tomato, Capsicum, Chilli, Brinjal, Papaya, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Broccoli and most hybrid flowers are easier to manage in individual tray cells.

Pots and Beds

Use one established Tomato, Capsicum or Brinjal plant in a container approximately 14 to 18 inches wide and deep. A 10 to 15 gallon grow bag provides useful root space for one plant.

Lady Finger and compact Chilli plants can begin in containers around 12 to 14 inches wide. Larger pepper plants may need more space as their roots and branches develop.

Cucumber and smaller climbing vegetables need containers around 14 to 18 inches wide with a secure trellis. Bottle Gourd, Sponge Gourd, Bitter Gourd and other vigorous vines perform better in larger containers or open beds.

Use one Cabbage, Cauliflower, Broccoli or Flowering Kale plant in a pot around 10 to 14 inches wide. Leafy vegetables and compact flowers can share wider planters when suitable spacing is maintained.

Vinca, Petunia, Alyssum and Tagetes fit naturally into pots and borders. Taller flowers need enough space around their leaves and stems for light and airflow.

Plant Care

• Sunlight: Provide around six to eight hours of direct sunlight for most fruiting vegetables, fruits and flowering plants.
• Soil: Use a loose growing mixture with drainage and organic matter.
• Watering: Adjust watering according to the plant, container size and weather.
• Spacing: Leave room for mature roots, leaves, branches and vines.
• Feeding: Apply compost or balanced plant food according to the plant’s stage and needs.

FAQs

Why do some F1 packets contain fewer seeds?

Seed count depends on the variety, seed size, sourcing and how the F1 seed is produced. A smaller quantity does not automatically indicate lower quality. Check the stated seed count and mature plant size before choosing how many packets are needed.

Can hybrid and desi seeds grow together?

Yes. Hybrid and desi plants can grow in the same home garden when each receives suitable spacing, sunlight and care. Their presence together does not harm the plants.

Will a mix produce every colour?

A flower mix contains a possible range of colours. A small sowing may produce only some of them because each seed develops independently. Sowing more seeds increases the chance of seeing a wider selection, but every pictured colour cannot be guaranteed.

Can F1 seeds be saved?
