Thiophanate Methyl Systemic Fungicide | فنگس کنٹرول

Thiophanate Methyl 70% WP is a systemic fungicide used to control common fungal diseases in home garden plants. After spraying, it is absorbed through the leaves and stems and moves within the plant, helping protect new growth as well.

It is commonly used for powdery mildew, anthracnose, leaf spot, rust, scab, blight, and certain fungal rots. It is especially effective in humid, rainy, and damp conditions where fungal diseases spread quickly.

Suitable for vegetables, fruit plants, roses, flowering plants, ornamental plants, pots, grow bags, and garden beds.

Benefits

  • Controls a wide range of common fungal diseases
  • Absorbs into the plant for internal protection
  • Helps stop early infection from spreading
  • Reduces fungal spread to healthy leaves and stems
  • Effective in humid, rainy, and overwatered conditions
  • Easy to mix and apply with a garden sprayer

Suitable Plants and Uses

Thiophanate Methyl 70% WP is commonly used on:

  • Vegetable, Flowering and ornamental plants

It helps when plants show symptoms such as white powder on leaves, brown or black spots, rust marks, dark patches, mould growth, or signs of fungal rot.

How to Use

Mixing Dose

Mix 1 gram in 1 litre of clean water.

First dissolve the powder in a small amount of water, then add the remaining water and mix well. Prepare only the amount needed for one application.

How to Spray

Spray evenly on leaves and stems, including the undersides of leaves where possible.

Ensure good coverage, but avoid excessive dripping or runoff into the soil.

When to Repeat

Repeat after 7 to 10 days if symptoms persist or if weather conditions remain humid and disease-prone.

Do not increase the dose for severe infection. Avoid repeated continuous use; rotate with another fungicide having a different active ingredient when further treatment is needed.

Best Time to Apply

Apply at the first sign of disease or before prolonged humid and rainy weather.

Spray in the early morning or late afternoon when temperatures are cooler.

Avoid spraying:

  • In strong sunlight
  • During very hot or windy conditions
  • Just before rainfall
  • On wet leaves
  • On plants under severe heat or drought stress

Allow the spray to dry on the plant before watering or expected rain.

Waiting Period (Harvest Time)

Do not harvest vegetables or fruits immediately after spraying.

Wait at least 7 to 14 days before harvesting, always wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before eating or cooking.

How to Get Better Results

Fungal problems return quickly in poor growing conditions. For better control:

  • Remove heavily infected leaves before spraying
  • Dispose of infected plant material away from healthy plants
  • Maintain proper spacing for airflow
  • Avoid overwatering and waterlogging
  • Water at the base instead of wetting leaves repeatedly
  • Clean pruning tools after use
  • Monitor nearby plants to prevent spread

FAQs

Can I keep the mixed solution for another day?

Prepare only the amount needed and use it on the same day. The diluted solution should not be stored for later use.

Can I spray before rain?

Avoid spraying when rain is expected soon. Rain may wash away the solution before the plant has enough time to absorb it.

Can I use Thiophanate Methyl every week?

It can be repeated after 7–10 days if needed, but should not be used continuously. Rotate with another fungicide for better long-term control.

Does it control insects like aphids or whiteflies?

No. It is only a fungicide and does not control insects or mites.

Can it be used on roses and potted plants?

Yes. It is commonly used on roses, hibiscus, and ornamental plants. For sensitive plants, test on a small area first.

Garden Tip

During monsoon and humid weather, inspect plants regularly and improve airflow, drainage, spacing, and garden hygiene. Early treatment can help stop fungal problems before they spread.
