How to Sow

1. Lightly rub one side of each hard seed coat with fine sandpaper.
2. Soak the prepared seeds in room-temperature water for 8–12 hours, then sow promptly.
3. Fill a deep pot with loose, moist growing mix, or prepare soil beside a support.
4. Sow around ¼ inch deep, cover lightly and water gently without disturbing the seeds.
5. Keep the mix warm and lightly moist, allowing excess water to drain throughout germination.
6. Thin crowded seedlings, leaving one vine per pot, and guide young stems towards their support.

Is Pearly Gate the same as Moonflower?

No. Moonflower is a different species, Ipomoea alba, with fragrant flowers that open after sunset. 

Why is my vine producing plenty of leaves but few flowers?

Excessive nitrogen or very rich soil can encourage leafy growth at the expense of flower buds. Stop frequent feeding and avoid adding lawn fertilizer or strong nitrogen feeds around the roots.

Why do seedlings wilt after transplanting?

Morning Glory roots are sensitive to disturbance. Move seedlings while young, keeping the entire root ball together. Give them temporary protection from strong afternoon sunshine while they settle, and avoid heavy feeding during recovery.
