Morning Glory Heavenly Blue is a classic flowering vine suited to Pakistan’s warm spring and monsoon growing seasons. It produces large sky-blue trumpet-shaped flowers with clean white throats, creating a bright contrast against its green, heart-shaped leaves.
The fast-growing twining vines perform best in full sunlight and can climb balcony grills, fences, trellises, arches and pergolas. Heavenly Blue is a practical choice for bringing clear blue seasonal colour to sunny walls, entrances and vertical spaces around Pakistani homes.
💐 Growing Guide
-
Sowing
- Gently scratch the hard seed coat or soak the seeds in water for 12 to 24 hours before sowing.
- Use either method. You do not need to scratch and soak the same seed.
- Sow the seeds ¼ to ½ inch deep and cover lightly with seed-starting mix.
- Sow directly near a climbing support or start each seed in a small pot.
-
Germination & Transplanting
- Keep the growing mix warm and lightly moist, but not waterlogged.
- Move seedlings carefully when they have 2 to 3 true leaves.
- Keep the soil around the roots together to reduce root disturbance.
-
Spacing & Container Size
- Keep plants 8 to 12 inches apart.
- For one plant, use a pot at least 10 to 12 inches wide and 10 to 12 inches deep.
- Use a larger container when growing more than one vine together.
-
Sunlight, Support & Watering
- Grow in full sunlight for healthy vines and better flowering.
- Provide a balcony grill, fence, trellis, arch or pergola from an early stage.
- Water when the top layer of soil starts to dry. Keep the soil moist but not soggy.
- During monsoon sowing, make sure pots and garden soil drain well.
-
Pests & Flower Care
- Check the vines regularly for aphids, mites and other common garden pests.
- Use neem oil only when pests appear.
- Remove old flowers to help support continued flowering and reduce unwanted self-seeding.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Heavenly Blue different from other blue Morning Glory varieties?
Heavenly Blue is known for its clear sky-blue flowers and clean white throats. Its lighter colouring gives it a brighter appearance than deeper blue or purple-blue varieties.
How long does Morning Glory Heavenly Blue take to flower?
In warm conditions, the seeds usually sprout within 1 to 2 weeks. Flowering may begin around 8 to 12 weeks after sowing, depending on sunlight, temperature and plant health.
Can Heavenly Blue grow during very hot weather?
It grows well in warm weather and full sunlight. During extreme afternoon heat, vines grown in pots may benefit from protection from the strongest late-day sun and more frequent soil-moisture checks.
