Godetia Double Mix produces upright stems lined with full, ruffled flowers in pink, salmon, red, lavender and white shades. The soft, satiny blooms add height behind shorter winter flowers and bring gentle colour to pots, borders and flower beds. Its long stems can also be cut for vases.

Native to western North America, Godetia is a cool-season annual that grows best during mild weather. In Pakistan, it develops through winter and flowers from late winter into spring before prolonged heat and humidity arrive.

In colder northern and hilly areas, sow from March to April after the risk of hard frost has passed.

How to Sow

Godetia is easiest to sow directly in its final pot or flower bed because its young roots do not like disturbance.

1. Prepare the final container or flower bed with fine, moist and well-draining mix.
2. Scatter the tiny seeds thinly over the surface, leaving a little space between them.
3. Press them gently against the mix and cover with only a very thin layer.
4. Water the surface gently using a fine spray to settle the seeds.
5. Keep the upper layer lightly moist in a bright, cool location.
6. Thin after the first true leaves appear, leaving 10–12 inches between plants.

Plant Care

Water when the upper layer of the mix begins to dry. Keep young plants evenly moist while their roots become established and buds begin forming. Avoid soggy soil because constantly wet conditions can cause stem and root rot.

Mix a small amount of Vermicompost into the soil before sowing. Godetia needs only light feeding. Too much fertilizer can produce tall, weak stems with fewer flowers.

Godetia normally has few pest problems. If aphids or mites appear, spray Neem Oil on the affected stems and leaves in the evening, avoiding open flowers.
