Forget-Me-Not forms low, leafy plants covered with clusters of tiny sky-blue flowers. Each bloom has five rounded petals surrounding a small yellow centre. Its gentle appearance suits shaded pots, pathways, front borders and spaces beneath taller spring flowers.

The natural range of Woodland Forget-Me-Not extends across temperate Eurasia, including Pakistan and the western Himalayas. It prefers cool weather, steady moisture and protection from strong afternoon sun. The flower is also widely associated with remembrance and lasting affection.

In colder northern and hilly areas, sow from March to April after hard frost, or from June to July for plants that will flower the following spring.

How to Sow

The tiny seeds need light to germinate, so start them in a tray or small pots where moisture is easier to control.

1. Fill the tray or pots with fine, moist seed starter mix.
2. Scatter the tiny seeds thinly and evenly over the surface.
3. Press them gently onto the mix without covering them.
4. Water the surface gently using a fine spray.
5. Keep the container bright and the mix lightly moist.
6. At 2–3 pairs of true leaves, transplant seedlings 6–8 inches apart.

Plant Care

Keep the soil evenly moist, especially while the plants are becoming established. Do not allow the mix to dry completely, but never leave the pot standing in water. Provide afternoon shade as the weather becomes warmer.

Mix a small amount of Vermicompost into the final potting mix before transplanting. Further feeding is usually unnecessary unless the leaves become pale or growth remains weak.

Slugs and snails may damage young leaves, so remove them when found. If aphids appear, spray Neem Oil on the affected foliage while avoiding open flowers.
