Sowing and Spacing

Choose a sunny position with loose, fertile, well-drained soil. Plant bottle gourd seeds about 1 inch deep once the soil has warmed to around 21–27°C. Leave 3–5 feet between plants.

Bottle gourd is a climbing vine, so provide a trellis, net, or strong support for better growth and cleaner fruits. Keep the soil evenly moist during vine growth, flowering, and fruit setting, and harvest the gourds while they are young, tender, and light green.
